

The Mayor Who Became A Writer
Bill Ross and his wife, Marilyn, live in Monroe, Wisconsin, a community steeped in Swiss heritage and traditions dating back to the 1800s. Bill's "Monroe Mystery Series", available on Amazon, includes 13 novels featuring Detective Samantha Gates and Police Chief Brandon Johns.
The classic police mysteries showcase smalltown life amidst Green County, Wisconsin's picturesque rolling hills and dairy farms, and historic downtown Monroe.
Bill was born in St. James, Minnesota, the eldest of five children. His father relocated the family to Annandale, Virginia outside Washington D.C., where Bill grew up. But he never lost sight of his uppder Midwest values and frequently visited his grandparent's farm in Odin, Minnesota. After high school, Bill enlisted in the USAF and later earned a degree in economics from Virginia Tech.
He moved to San Francisco to work for UPS, and managed the Coca-Cola bottling plants in Phoenix, Arizona and Houston, Texas.
After a year off to reasses work/life balance, Bill took a job managing a whey protein plant in Monroe, Wisconsin.
He soon fell in love with Monroe and became a passionate volunteer for many groups. He was Mayor of Monroe for 18 years, concentrating on tourism and economic development.
He began writing after retiring.

During his time as mayor, Bill was instrumental in bringing forward the Main Street Monroe initiative to revitalize, restore, and bring the historic district forward for a new generation.
